El Paso
Amongst my travels with the Rutgers basketball team was a trip to the Sun Classic in El Paso, Texas from December
26 - 29th, 2003.  This represents the furthest West I have ever travelled for sports business.  Even though I look
relaxed and stress free, there are actually two things wrong with this picture, taken from the bridge leading from Mexico
back to the U.S. -- with downtown El Paso in the background.  First, it must've been about 45 degrees outside, yet I'm
in my shirt sleeves and I'm kind of cold when this picture is taken.  Secondly, I'm without my passport and so I'm hoping
when I get to the other side of the bridge, they let me back in the USA.  Heck, I had a game to work that night.
A more "uninterrupted" view of the
border crossing.
This was taken in Juarez, Mexico and the
tunnel behind me is the gateway to the bridge
leading to the U.S.  Prior to this very brief
15-minute journey into Mexico, the only other
time I had visited Mexico were trips to Cancun.
Guess what, Juarez is no Cancun.
I'm "safe and sound" again in the U.S., just North of downtown El Paso (in the background).  From here, I walk to
the Don Haskins Center on the UTEP campus for Rutgers' game that December 27th night against Northwestern.
