I'd rather you laugh at me than not know I exist. -- Paul Shrager

I was born on June 5th, 1969 and grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn. My early childhood
talents could be found in my piano and violin playing. I went to Interlochen Center for the
Arts Music Camp for four years (1980-83). Then in my teenage years I worked on my
athletic abilities going on a two week bike trip from Danbury, Ct. to Montreal in 1984, then
attending the Ocean Hockey School in 1985.
Then I got down to business in 1986. While attending Edward R. Murrow High School, that
summer was my first as a camp counselor (1986 - 1990, 1993), which would eventually
persuade me to major in elementary education in college. The following year during my last
semester in high school, I began my current career working in the media with an internship at
WKRB Kingsborough Community College radio.
It was off to Philadelphia and Temple University in the fall of 1987. My experience in radio
continued by working at WRTI, Temple University radio, for all four years. In addition, I
interned at WFAN during the summer of '89, then worked as a producer at WIP all sports
radio in 1990, my first paying job in the media biz. All of this was while majoring in
education, and also playing in the Temple University Marching Band.
After graduating from Temple in May, 1991, I stayed in Philadelphia and worked at two FM
radio stations -- WXPN and WWDB. Then my wire service career started when I was
hired as a full-time writer at The Sports Network in August, 1992.
Philadelphia was fun, but New York is home, and I finally returned there in December, 1994
when I started working at PR Newswire as an Editor. I would stay put at PR Newswire for
over six years, working primarily as an Account Executive. My last position at PR Newswire
was as an editor in the features department where I coached PR professionals in the writing
of their news releases. This job allowed me to combine my skills of media writing and
education.
I also stayed close to sports upon my return to NY. I worked in the St. Peter's College
Athletics Department for six years, and today I'm back in radio -- engineering radio
broadcasts at pro and college sporting events. My "bread and butter" is engineering the
Rutgers University football broadcasts, which includes my all-time favorite -- traveling on the
job.
My expanded resume highlights all of my work experience. Also, the links on the right give a
chronology of my fun and personal life.
Most of the members of my immediate family took a trip to Kutshers in Monticello, NY.
This picture was taken on January 19th, 2002. In the front row, left to right are Michael,
my dad and Joseph. Standing in the back row, left to right are me, Sherry, Adam, and
he's holding Benjamin. Notice how much taller I am than Adam.
Virtually every living Shrager was at my older brother Adam's 10th anniversary party in Princeton, NJ on June 19th, 2004.
Pictured are: Front row from left to right -- My 13-year old twin brothers Joseph and Michael, Adam's 6-year old son (and
my nephew) Benjamin and Adam's wife Lisa.
In the back row are from left to right: My father's youngest sibling (and my aunt) Jeanne, my dad (what's with the hat???), my
dad's wife (my stepmother) Sherry, My first cousin Nicholas, his mother (and my father's other sister, Joanne), me (notice I'm
the tallest one in the picture), and Adam. I was actually in a rush to get this picture taken, because as soon as this was
snapped, I bolted from the party to get to Shea Stadium for a Mets night game. By the way, does anyone have a copy of this
picture in color???
